Marlene is a full-time nurse and still finds time to come out to the garden. She tends to her box regularly,making sure its taken care of even while out on vacation. She has also recurited a new member for the garden. Let's give our thanks to Marlene for being a great volunteer for the month of July!

Types of Members:

 NEW Restaurants/Businesses

Join Wise Words Community Garden and for $35 a month recieve a box of fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden.

Stakeholders

Stakeholders are individuals that are unable to make it to the garden but are equally invested in the success of the garden. Stakeholders are not involved in the day-to-day upkeep of the garden. Their support is based on monthly dues and contributions. Stakeholders receive fruit, eggs and vegetables from the garden throughout the month. However, they are not required to help out in the garden.

Individual Members

Individual Members are given assignments to complete in the garden. They are also asked to assist in running and working at different workshops held by the garden.

How Can I Become a Member of Wise Words Community Garden

  1. Read and become familiar with the garden Rules & Regulations and Bylaws. WHEN YOU PAY YOUR DUES, YOU ARE AGREEING TO ABIDE BY THE RULES & REGULATIONS AND BYLAWS.
  2. Attend monthly meetings when scheduled. Meetings are held at the Wise Words Community Garden, 724 S. Hennessey Street, New Orleans, LA 70119, 504.251.9818.
  3. A New Member Orientation will be scheduled when you attend your first monthly meeting. Orientations last approximately one hour.
  4. Schedule open hours and community assignments.
  5. Pay monthly dues. Effective July1, 2010, Gardening Membership is $20 per month for individuals and $30 per month for Keyholders plus a $2.00 key deposit. Dues may be paid online or at monthly meetings.

Keyholder Membership: $30 Note: Keys will be given only to those who have taken part in at least 5 of Mid-City Community Garden’s activities.

Restaurants/Businesses Membership: $35
